As the Chairperson of ICLEI South Asia, Ms. Hansa Patel continues to work closely with the cities and ICLEI staff to facilitate the exchange of environmental protection innovations by transfer of technology. She is also the Chief Executive Advisor of the All India Institute of Local Self-Government where she ensures that local authorities in India contribute more effectively to the urban development process and provide better living conditions to the citizens at large. At present she is the Chairperson to Develop Asian Cities for Urban Sustainability and also to Twin Cities for Linking Business and Education Awareness. She has been working extensively to empower women in local bodies; to provide technical training like Healthcare, Disaster Management to youth so as to strenghthen Human Resource in the country. She believes that India and other countries may be encouraged to safeguard biodiversity and use alternative energy sources to provide rural agriculture development and employment opportunities in southern region. She has served in human resource development programmes under UNDP and the Government of India. At present she serves Sister Cities International for bridging the gap between nations to empower human resource for employment and harmony.
